Where Does That Faith Come From?

Have you ever heard someone say,God told me to do such and such”, or maybe more often, “God never answers my prayers”, and wonder at times if God was ever actually in the picture in the first place? Was that person believing for, or believing in, a real Word from God, or did they just dream something up in their minds that they wanted to happen?

There are many spiritual leaders who talk about your faith and the importance of it, but rarely do they talk about what true faith is, or what it takes to produce that faith. True faith for something doesn’t start in your emotions or your mind as a great idea. That would be more of a human belief. True faith is actually a result of a meeting with, or an experience in the Lord, our God.

In the Scriptures it says that Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by a Word from God.” So, true faith is actually imparted to you by the Father, because you come into a connection with Him, and He imparts His knowledge, His Word, about the situation to you. That meeting or experience can come through reading the Word, hearing a message in church, waiting before the Lord, or even from a friend or brother; however the Lord wants to impart it.

Also, in the Scriptures you will find that any true Word from the Father will be confirmed to your heart by at least two or three witnesses. Once you have been met with a Word from the Lord, He encourages you to test it, and see if it is true. When what you are having faith for is truly confirmed, you can start expressing your faith through actions that you take, and you can put your whole heart toward seeing that Word fulfilled, rather than just having faith for something that is likely to fail or fizzle out at some point.

The bottom line for everyone is to not just jump on every word that you hear, but to hold what you hear before God to confirm it to your heart, and then give it life through your actions.

  1. Thanks for the encouragement about faith. I am curious. In the photo above what kind of Bible is sitting on the lap of this person? I don’t think I have ever seen a layout like that. For me, one aspect of faith is looking at life from God’s point of view and acting on it. That is one side of faith for me.

    1. Your right about seeing things from Gods point of view. As we mature in our walk with God, His view of things become our point of view as He he fills us with his presence.
