The Helmet of Salvation

If you have something from the Lord, how do you protect it? How do you be successful as a spiritual warrior? You don't go into battle, without proper training and without proper armament. Now, what are you going to do? You're going to put the armor around your body. And the one we're talking about tonight is we're putting the helmet of salvation around the mind of Christ that's in you.

God's not going to send us out to battle without properly prepared, properly dressed. I would say that the helmet of salvation is one of the most important ones because of what you have put underneath it.

You don't put the helmet of salvation to protect the carnal mind.

If you as a believer goes, Lord, I put on your, the helmet of salvation, and you're still having negative thoughts. Maybe you're trying to put that helmet on the wrong thing. We're talking about the mind of Christ, not our mind, our thoughts. Thinking with something other than our carnal mind is what we're protecting. We're not protecting our carnal mind, we're protecting the mind of Christ. What does that mean?

That means that you have told the Lord, Lord, I believe in you.

You're putting on that helmet of salvation. Yes, you're not going to be totally, completely changed in at one moment ,because it's your salvation is something that you work out. It's something that's progressive. What you're doing is you're covering what you've got and you're opening your heart and your mind to receive more.

I'm taking the initiative to lay down my life and He is rewarding me with giving me His life.

So putting on the helmet of salvation could be progressive as well.

Day by day. We put it on and it's a new level. It's a new way of thinking. It's a new heart. It's a new mind in the presence of the Lord.

I asked for the helmet of salvation. So the next day I go, that didn't work very good. You're judging by your own mind, but are you trusting what the Lord said? Okay, so then you ask again. And then you, the next day, you ask again. And the next day, you ask again.

And keep on asking, because what you're saying to the Lord is, I trust You, and I believe what You're saying. I trust You, and what's happening in all that is, first off, you're getting a relationship with the Lord. You're beginning a relationship of trust and belief with the Lord, and He's doing what He said He's going to do.

And it says in Matthew, keep on seeking, and you'll find, keep on knocking, and the door will be opened up to you. Keep on asking. It will be given to you.

This is interesting because it says, put on the helmet of the hope of salvation. What is hope? Hope are promises yet to be fulfilled.

That puts in my mind that God has got more for me. It says, after the hope of salvation, And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And it expands this thing of the helmet of salvation. God is giving me enough, because I trust him.

Though the Word says, we hope for that which we do not see, but with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. Connecting them with what Dale was saying, that we are given a helmet of salvation, which is hope. What am I hoping in? My hopes are coming from the Word of the promises of God. What He has spoken to me, what He's made real to me, with perseverance, we wait eagerly for it. When you're getting assaulted in your mind, you can go back to the Word, back to the promises of God and say, No, I have a hope.

A living hope that God has given me, this my hope this is what protects me from the assault, from the doubts, from the fears, from the, from all these things that are assailing my mind. I can repel those things with the hope that God's given me in my heart.

See that's what we put the helmet over. We put it over what God has established within you. And we protect it.

These pieces of armor are divine. And what are they going to protect? They're going to protect that which in you is divine. They're not protecting that which is being done away with. So then that goes back to your commitment to your relationship through the lordship of Jesus Christ, your trust in the Father, knowing that even though things may not look so great, and you may be going through a lot of stuff that you don't understand, He's your Father.

He's doing good things for you, and you have a hope. You have armor that you've put on that's protecting what He's already established in you.

This is how it's happened He has been giving you what you need in your growth. He's been growing you up He's been the one in charge, because you have given your life to Him And even though you may fumble the ball, you just pick it up and keep walking and God's right there with you

As we walk on in our relationship with the Lord, appropriating the mind of Christ, appropriating and walking in this armor, a lot of this change that's happening to us where we're getting the divine nature of God and God's protecting that through the armor that we're appropriating, that divine nature has come to us through the Word of God, through the impartation of the Holy Spirit as a medium, but it's the Word of God.

We don't think or act the way we used to. Was that just osmosis, or was it because you believed His Word, you appropriated His Word, and then you fell down, and you got back up, and you believed His Word, and you appropriated His Word, and you fell down, and you got back up, and you did the same thing, and you did the same thing.

Of course, as you go on, you fall down less. And a lot of that has to do with the armor.

I think part of us putting on the armor of God, what is the armor? It's the Word. In the wilderness, they had the manna, but when they went into Jordan and when they went into Canaan's land, that was gone. They had to eat what was provided for them for life.

That same thing applies to every believer. We only live because we digest, eat, and live the Word.

Armor is the Word of God.

As you eat the Word, and you assimilate the Word, as the Holy Spirit makes alive to you the words that you read, it becomes your armor.

What is the helmet of salvation? It's the Lordship of Jesus Christ over us.
