How many of us truly rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us and share God’s intentions? Do you believe that the Holy Spirit communicates with you, especially when you read the Bible?
It’s easy to approach scripture with our own thoughts and interpretations clouding our understanding. Many of us lean on what we’ve learned through teachings or personal experiences instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to make the word come alive and reveal the Father’s messages to us in that moment.
Imagine being in a room with 20 people, all listening to a teaching or reading the same passage of scripture. If asked to share their insights, you’d likely hear a wide range of responses. This is particularly true if most are drawing from their past teachings and interpretations. However, if everyone opened their hearts and set aside preconceived notions, many would likely arrive at similar conclusions. That’s because the Holy Spirit speaks a unified truth to all.
If you approach the Bible thinking you already understand it completely, chances are you won’t gain much new insight. On the other hand, if you read with a prayerful heart and a genuine desire to learn from the Holy Spirit, the words will resonate with you in a powerful way. If you’re content with your current understanding, you may find little growth, but if you crave deeper knowledge, the scriptures will come alive for you each day.
