Breaking Bonds to find the Real God

Ron:

Welcome to Live Behind the Veil. I'm Ron, your host, and today we're stepping into a challenging, but freeing reality. What if the very things we've held onto about God are the very things holding us back from truly knowing Him? Human nature wants something to cling, to beliefs, doctrines, experiences, even relationships.

But what happens when those bonds become limitations? What happens when our concept of God replaces the reality of who he really is? In this episode, we're talking about breaking those bonds, allowing God to shake what feels secure so that something deeper, something real can emerge. Because knowing God isn't about holding on, it's about surrendering everything that is in him.

Dale:

Human nature is such that you feel dependent, you feel driven to bond, and that's what created a denominationalism. You found fellow people to bond with and follow a leader or follow a way of believing, and you bond yourself to it. Bonds are death. Could you run? If your hands and feet are tied, could you swim?

You can become bonded to an individual. You can become bonded to a certain way of worship. You can be bonded to so many things. That's not what God's all about. You wonder what's going on? The first thing you have to do. Is break bonds with who you think God is. What do you think He is? How does He manifest Himself?

You have to break bonds with God in order to find God. That's what we all face. You don't bond. You become alive in Him.

Ken:

The problem with bonds is that they become an idol. If you're so tied into someone or something that you've bonded to, it can be your limitation to really knowing God. Bonds are so detrimental to our relationship with God.

Ron:

One of the biggest bonds is your bond with God, your concept of who the Lord is, even though you feel like you know the Lord in certain areas or certain ways. Do you test it? Are you afraid of losing your security or your foundation of knowing the Lord? Can you test that? Can you let the Lord shake it?

I know people that have been so afraid if you cross their doctrines, cross what they think God is, they are ready to eat you alive. That is a bond,

I reject. In my being, the fear of going, oh my God, I've walked with God, quote, walk with God for 50 years and then to find out, well, maybe not so much.

Now, of course you don't throw everything out, but at least you start. Questioning question, your foundations question, your relationship with the Lord because you want it to be real. Who he is who he is, not who you think He is.

Dale:

We will come to know more and a greater way of God through devastation than we can through blessings when God is really dealing with us.

We see His heart. The dealings of God are the way He shows us how much He loves us, and when His blessings come along, they're so much sweeter because they were preceded by His heart, which did not spare. What was it? Spare the rod and spoil the child. He didn't spare anything in devastating us. He knew that we would turn to Him.

You're quick to repentance, quick to change. Be quick to repent.

Ken:

It's turning away. From whatever it is and turning to the Lord, let God be your answer. Not circumstances, not a drastic test. Those aren't the things that are going to test, you know your relationship with God in one way, but when you turn away from those things and look to the Lord, let Him be the confirmation.

Let Him be the one that says, it's okay, son. I love you. Regardless of what? What happens in your life, I'm still there with you. I'm not gonna leave you

Dale:

In our relationship with God, He'll hone a determination into us that we're so determined to walk with Him and bring such a delight to His heart. God will make things tough for us to get our attention, and then He'll repeat that.

And pretty soon we become His workmanship. And as we become His workmanship, His heart is woven into us. His love is woven into us, and He designed it that way from the beginning. He loves us more than we can even begin to fathom. It's out of devastation. We'll find God.

Ken:

It's amazing, isn't it? How you start out in this relationship with the God, this walk with God, being born again is a great experience.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is awesome and you take on a whole new venture. Once you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit and the revelation of God comes to your heart and it's real, and then you hit one of these spots where you feel like the carpet has just been yanked out from under your feet and you fall flat on your face and you go.

Wow, how'd I get here? I had those wonderful experiences knowing the Lord, walking with Him, and now the devastation comes and I don't even know where I'm at. I don't even know if there's a God, and then the Lord speaks to me. Son, I'm still here. I'm still here. You're just not here where you should be. Then I repent and turn to Him.

And there, there's like a refreshing that comes to my heart. There's something about that that establishes something in our spirits as it, it's an ongoing experience of devastation and realization that God's with you that you learn to trust. You learn to put your feet down on the floor and walk with Him and not be afraid of falling into the ditch because you're on a path that He's chosen for you.

Are you gonna make mistakes? Absolutely. Are you gonna fall on your face? Absolutely. You will. Are you gonna make a lot more devious and erroneous things happen in your life? Yes, you will. But God's with you through it. And after you've gone through it. Gee, I, it seems like I remember Peter going through something like that after he denied the Lord three times and yet when he looked to the Lord, he could see the Lord knew what Peter was going through.

And then he met him on the beach, didn't he? And had a little fish fry and said, son, I want you to join me. I got breakfast already prepared for you. And He said, son, do you love me? And Peter said, yes, Lord, you know I love you. And it was that casual. And then Jesus said again, Peter, do you love me?

And he was a little irritated and he said, yes, you know I love you. And then He said, Peter, do you love me? If you love me, feed my sheep. He knew the course of Peter's life. He knew the direction of where he was headed. He knew his life. He knows our beginnings and our endings. He knows every aspect of us as beings that he sent down here to the earth to do His will.

And so He was saying, Peter, do you trust me? Do you know I'm gonna lead you? And Peter finally said, yes, Lord, I do.

Ron:
