Summary

This conversation centers on the believer’s journey out of the limitations of the past and into the present reality of life in the Spirit. While past experiences serve as important “benchmarks” that reveal God’s faithfulness and establish spiritual foundations, they are not meant to hold us back or define our present walk. Instead, they become reference points that strengthen faith as we continue moving forward.

The speakers emphasize that true life is found in the Spirit, not in the soul, flesh, or past experiences. Believers are called to live in the “now” reality of God’s kingdom, where everything He has done remains alive and accessible. This journey is described as a return to our origin in God—an awakening to our eternal identity in Christ.

Ultimately, the message reveals that we are being drawn upward into deeper realms of the Spirit, not by striving, but by aligning with God and allowing Him to lead. It is a continual progression toward our true home in Him, where we fully realize who we are and where we came from.

Takeaway

The past is not your dwelling place—it is your witness.
God uses it to establish truth in you, but your life is meant to be lived in the present reality of the Spirit. As you move forward, aligning with Him, He leads you into deeper realms of understanding, identity, and union with Himself.

You are not becoming something new—you are awakening to where you came from and returning to who you’ve always been in Him.

Ron:

Welcome to Live Behind the Veil. In this episode, we explore the journey of moving beyond the past and into the present reality of life in the spirit. While God has been faithful in every step behind us, we're not called to live there. We're called to move forward into deeper realms of this kingdom. As we share, you'll hear how past experiences become spiritual.

Benchmarks, not places to remain, but foundations that propel us forward. This is a call to awaken to who we are in Christ. To live in the now of the Spirit and to follow Him into everything He is unfolding.

Ken:

We have a heritage in the Lord, in the kingdom of God, that is beyond anything this world has to offer. And to think the thoughts of what happened in the past, which are absolutely not viable in the day we're living, it is ridiculous. You want to live in all the crap that went on in your early days, or do you want to live in the light that God's brought us into in the realm of the kingdom?

That's a choice, and we can choose to get there and be there and do what we're doing. We're not living in the realm of what goes on in the earth around us. We're living in the realm of spirit. We're talking about living in the present reality of who God is and what He's done in our lives.

Mike:

And I can look back in the past at those benchmarks and be blessed at how faithful God was to point these particular benchmarks out, because they provided a foundation in the spirit of things that happen in the Spirit, because that which is spirit is important.

Versus that which is of the soul, flesh, and all these negative things we could look to in the past and have it affect us in a negative way—it's not going to, because our focus is on the spirit and on the spiritual side of things, because that's who we are. These benchmarks happen for a reason, for a purpose, and it also explains why we are driven in certain aspects the way we're driven.

Monnie:

You get to a certain point, you overcome something—what's done is done—and that's a benchmark, and you are not able to go backwards past that point. You just go forward onward.

Bill:

As we've been moving forward spiritually, you can't just look back at your past and say, I don't need any of that anymore, because benchmarks, or foundations, or revelations, events or blessings—whatever—there are things that will not change.

If you're talking benchmarks, I used to use the example that helped me: if you're climbing a rock face in a certain place, you take a pin and you drive it in, and you tie your rope off of that and you go on up. If you fall, you only go back as far as that last pin.

If we get discouraged, if we think we've lost our way or God's not working in our life, then just go back to the last benchmark—the last time, the foundation that you said, “This I know is real”—for that which we bring from the past and we apply it today, and then we start anticipating what it's going to look like tomorrow.

Dale:

God lets us look back in order to realize how much He was really in our lives, And how much He's really guided us in the past, and we rejoice in that. It's a very humbling experience. He has implanted what He wanted in our lives.

Ken:

We are definitely on a journey. Each step that we take, God imparts something new. It's all about impartation. We've all had experiences in the spirit that have brought us into the spirit realm that we're living in now. We don't want to settle, and we're not settlers. There's another realm—we're going up. We're going into the next realm God’s prepared for us.

Roger:

This is out of Psalm 126: when the Lord brought back the captive ones from Zion, we were like those who dream. God is returning us into a realm. He says when the Lord returns the captives of Zion, we are like ones who dream. It's a whole different realm that God is bringing us to.

Hebrews talks about Melchizedek, and he says, without father, without mother, without beginning of days or end—that's the realm of eternity the Lord is bringing our spirits into. The former things have passed away. The scripture says, “Behold, new things have come.” This is just a new realm of God that we come into where it's like we shake our head—we're like those who dream.

We're not going to be timeline people living in time, waiting for events, because everything is right now. In the spirit realm, it's all right now that we can walk in. Everything that God's ever done is alive.

Jennifer:

He's returning us to the Father. We are eternal beings. Our place is there, sitting in the heavenlies. We're waking up from a dream.

Roger:

We are in a return to our Father as we knew Him in Christ from before the foundation of the world. It's very valid that we're finding our true identity in Christ. We're on a journey—okay—it's a journey back into our origin.

Where did you come from? It's always a revelation of the Lord Jesus, because that unfolds it to us. Because we know Him and see Him, these things open to us. There's our true life. There's our true identity in the Lord Jesus in this realm of spirit.

Ken:

We're on a journey back to be where He is. That's our eternal home. That's where we belong. We're going home.

Roger:

The Gospel of John is pretty good—you read through there where it says, Jesus said, “I came forth from God.” If you look at that little Greek word there, it's “ek.” Jesus didn't come from God like God sent Him—like they were two sitting there having coffee and “I'm going to send you.” He came out of God, out of His essence.

We too, our spirits, in a mystical way in Christ, are eternal. We were not created in that sense. We came forth out of God, and that's where we're returning. That's what Jesus said: “I came forth out of God. I'm going back into Him.” His experience is our own, because we're going with Him—we're in Him.

Mike:

We've come full circle. When you read Ephesians 1:3, 2:6, that's a picture of when we came out of God as His sons. He tells us, “I bless you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. You will stand before Me holy and blameless,” and that's only by the blood of Christ. And He predestined you to become sons of God through Jesus Christ, back unto Himself.
