John 8:43-47
Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I say the truth, you do not believe Me. Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? The one who is of God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not of God.”

Jesus said a lot of things that are hard to understand. When He would say things like “My sheep hear my voice.” Well, there's a lot of sheep out there that do not hear His voice. So what about that? Is this person of God? Or are they not? One of the other? I would say, a person can be of God, up to a point, and then they stop hearing, and they stopped seeing. And at that point, it's not of God. You say, Well, how can that be? I want to read a scripture here, about the Spirit of the Word. Listen to what Jesus said, here. He's talking to the Pharisees, "why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear My Word. You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. And when he speaks, speaks, now when he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature. For he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me? Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God. For this reason, you do not hear them, because you are not of God." You could take those scriptures, in simplicity of the carnal mind and say, you're hearing God or you're not. If you don't hear what God speaking, and you're not of God. But you can't really say that, because people can hear up to a certain point. How important it is, that our hearts are really open to hear the truth, on whatever level, the Lord is speaking. Something in our hearts has to be open to Him. And if our hearts are not open, then we stop hearing. And the minute we stop hearing what God is speaking right now, at that moment, we've taken a good step into deception. Because there's something in our hearts that quits hearing. "He who is of God hears the words of God." We want to be of God, fully and completely. To hear what He's saying, in any given moment, as His word comes to us collectively. How important it is for us, to be those who are always hearing what God is speaking. To really hear it by revelation, because something in our spirits is open to hear, and it's not closed off.

I'll walk with a man as far as he wants to walk. But when he stops, I'm gonna keep going. Because I don't know if we all realize this. But there were many denominations that started by just a word that God revealed to somebody, and it was real. And then 50 years later was gone. Because people tried to live in that same Word, and didn't go on from there, to hear God what He was speaking, as they walked on with Him. And that's why it's so important what you're saying, Roger, because we have to hear God each moment of every day, going forward, in our reach for righteousness, you know, for that cry in our heart. Lord, I want to know you. If we're going to stand still and believe what God has already said and live in that. Eventually it's going to dry up. There is more. It has to be more. God's revealing to us moment by moment what it is. This is such a cry in my heart I know, I cannot stop.
Dale
You never stop. You've never say no. When Caleb and Joshua went out, why did they come back with a good report? They had the right attitude. They had the right relationship, to go out and to see what God has spoken would happen. Caleb and Joshua were different. They came back ready to trust the fact that God had said that the land was theirs. When God begins to speak to us, we need that predetermination to receive a living word. Without that predetermination, you're going to struggle with the Word, you may eventually get it. But if you've got that predetermination, that that Word is coming, you will see, and you will have a good report. Hath God said? No, that's not what you bring to the table. You bring to the table, I believe what God has said. That's what Caleb and Joshua brought. How do I prepare myself, I predetermined that I'm going to believe it.
Ron
It's not hard. It's simple. Everything tries to complicate a walk with God, but it's simple. It's hearing His Word, hiding it in your heart, and believing and resting in that word.
Ken
I think when we do that, there are many times that we will not understand with our human mind what the Word is saying. All too many times, we try to interpret the Word based on our human understanding. And that's when we get a wrong slant on the Word, because our human nature is still not perfected. I know that we're reaching for that. But we can't interpret the Word by the reasoning of our minds.
Ron
Well you are. You're hearing it with your own preconceived ideas are conditioning's. It may even hit up against some of your foundational beliefs. And so you can in yourself, react, or reject what's being said. And what I hear you saying is no, don't do that. But hear the Word, and if you don't understand it, don't reject it, just put it on a shelf and Holy Spirit show me, is this important. If it's important, bring it back to me make it real to me. In other words, you're taking the responsibility off of yourself, to judge what someone's saying, and you're saying, Holy Spirit, you'd be the judge and jury about what's being spoken. I want to be open and pliable. Maybe this Word that's hitting me so wrong, at this moment, may be the very Word that I need to hear for salvation, down, down the road.
Ken
Someone who will speak a Word that's contrary to everything you've been taught. And you say, how do I respond to that? You know, what I don't know. So I'm not going to try to interpret it, I'm not going to try to dissect it with my mind, I'm going to put it in a place where a God, by His Spirit can give me a revelation of that word.
Ron
You have a group of people that are going along and they're walking together, and God's revealing things. Then all of a sudden, some of them stop, and the others continuing walking on into revelations, and the one that stopped begin to persecute those that are walking on. It was just simply, they become inflexible. They didn't just say, Hey, I don't understand what you guys are talking about. I don't get this next step that you're talking about. But I'm not going to reject you or reject what you say, I'm just going to set it aside and ask the Holy Spirit to show me.
Dale
It may not be setting that Word aside as much, as realize that we are His workmanship. That's what it's talking about when it says we are His workmanship. I will not let Satan rob me of this Word, whether I understand it or not. I believe this Word, whether I understand it or not. I don't have to understand it, I just voice that I believe it. That puts you in the place that God can work with you. Mary is the perfect example of let God be her Creator. She had the Word in her heart and became His workmanship.
Thy Word is Spirit and it keeps working in us to will it in HIS righteousness. If we predetermine to go on in the Lord He delights in our being open in the Now to be at His table to partake of that which is a Living vital Word which takes us from here and moves us on. His Word never ends!
Thank You, Lord, for this podcast.
