Our Mind or His?

I was so impressed how the Lord takes you through a place of utter devastation, utter abandonment to anything that you would rely on in yourself. You rely totally on Him.

God's saying, it's not enough that you just do what you do because you've learned what you've learned. I want to give you a new mind, a new heart, a new spirit.

The mind is a huge enemy and it's also probably our greatest source of assault is our mind and our emotions. Both? Yes. I guess I would define it as our soul level. Our mind and our emotions are probably the greatest access the enemy has to us. How do we appropriate the mind of Christ?

The human mind is enmity against God. My mind is an enemy of God, and God is out to destroy all His enemies. And it's not actually God, because Satan's doing the job for Him, at least for a while. I wished it happened overnight, and it does as much as I can handle. To me, there's a tremendous amount of grace involved in this.

If we have a broken and a contrite heart, I feel like the Lord's drawn to that. And if we're under tremendous pressure, which you usually are if you're under this assault that we're talking about, you have a choice. And your choice is either break, open up to the Lord, or harden and try to fight it yourself.

You have a broken spirit and a contrite heart. And what that does is that opens you up for His solution. And His solution is your initiative to take the mind of His son. You've got to come to the end of yourself. That's a principle that applies to so much in our walk with God. He will cover you with His love and His grace and let you come to the end of yourself.

He's trying to replace the human with the divine. This all has to do with relationship - how do I do this? You're asking the wrong question. It's all about relationship with Him.

Trusting and believing Him, that He will give you His mind.

The torment of the mind drives you, and the thing that the Lord is giving us, honestly, I think He's been giving us this in a progressive way.

In other words, God is not gonna let us off the hook (Right.) He's called us. But what I'm trying to get to is that God, all through all of these circumstances, has brought us to the day where we know we cannot trust what our mind is saying. (Right.) We can only trust what the Lord is speaking to us and bringing that mind and really making Him the Lord of our life. He is the Lord.

Maybe people haven't come to that point yet in their relationship with Father. They're just beginning. Lord meet you. Let the Lord meet you. Just wait. Just sit down and cry out before the Lord. Just ask Him to help you with your thinking that the mind of Christ comes to help us.

And if you just call out to the Lord and ask Him for His mind for His thinking for His heart. You can't do it. Just ask Him to help you find someone to talk to. Find someone that you know, maybe a pastor. Maybe it's someone that you've had a relationship with, that you've, a friend. Just talk to someone. Let them know what's going on. Open, ask the Lord. If you have no one to talk to, just ask the Lord to show you and just help you and enable you.

It doesn't matter how far you've gone. The Lord loves you. And He's right there with you. He said He'd never leave us or forsake us. All we have to do is open our hearts to Him and allow Him to come in and minister to us.

He wants you to be totally subjected to Him. (Yes.) And it goes back to our free will. It's our free will that gets us in trouble, because God insists. It's at your initiative. Like he did with Job, like he's done with us all, He'll bring you to the point that you know that there's only one solution and it's mind change.

It's more than changing the way you think. It's changing what you think with. It just takes you coming to that realization in your mind that it's got to go. I'm taking my mind, and I'm getting rid of it, and I'm taking His mind.

And what really works, I think, in all of our lives, is that we continue to fail. We continue to fall back. That's not the end of the story. We keep putting on the mind of Christ. We keep after it. We don't stop doing it. Somebody could say, I tried that and it didn't work. Try it again. Keep trying it again. Keep doing it, because God is faithful to His Word. And our persistence in doing what the Lord is showing us to do is truly the answer.

And it is simple. It's not difficult. You can look back and say, look at all of my baggage. How can I do that? That baggage will be done away with, as you keep seeking God and putting on the mind of Christ.
