Have you ever had someone come to you and tell you that God gave them a Word for you? What about someone you hear on the radio or TV, or even one of the leaders at your church? These words could even come by someone who you feel is a very reputable source. What do you do with that? There are so many Christians who tend to jump on these words and accept them as gospel. Should they? Is it a real Word from God?

God never gives you a Word without it being confirmed 2-3 times. A mature Christian doesn’t just accept every word that comes along without prayer and searching the scriptures to see how what has come to them lines up with the Word. This is so very important. If what you heard doesn’t bear witness to your heart or line up with the Word of God, it is much better to shelve it until the Lord brings more to light for you.

Checking these words out is not just for the recent words that you might receive. It may also apply to directives and words that you could have received years ago. Do they still line up with where you are at spiritually today?

Your faith (which was imparted to you by the Holy Spirit), coupled with a true word from God to you, becomes extremely powerful and is very hard to loose, unless you decide to let it go. This kind of faith brings deep changes to your heart and affects everyone you come in contact with. The result of the coupling of a true Word that God has spoken to your heart with the faith He has imparted to you, provides a joy, a witness to your heart, and an assurance that the Lord has spoken to you.

You have to remember that “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ”, Romans 10:17.
