True forgiveness comes through a relationship with God. We cannot earn or work up in our flesh, true forgiveness from God. Without God’s heart being imparted to you first there is no true change in the one forgiving or the one being forgiven.
A broken spirit and a contrite heart creates a pure atmosphere and is what God is looking for when you go to forgive someone. Without this state of heart, the forgiveness that you give can be tainted by things that are in your own spirit.
The experience of being forgiven very deeply by God through those that you are in relationship with works in you a willingness to be a true forgiver. We can all be agents and recipients of God’s forgiveness and grace to those around us everyday.
A major step for Christianity would be to tear down the walls of division, forgiving one another… Jesus forgave, and He is expecting us to forgive our fellow man. ARE YOU GOING TO DO THAT?
